With both a Walk Thru experience in Downtown San Jose and a Drive Thru Light Show at History Park, we take pride in spreading joy and holiday cheer. Christmas in the Park is now hiring seasonal Staff for three functions:

  1. Load In
  2. Show Run
  3. Load Out
  4. Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager

Load In/Load Out

Assist our Operations Team with setting up and tearing down event sites while following safety protocols outlined by our Operations Director. Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Laying portable flooring in designated areas
  • Installing fencing
  • Staking and setting up Christmas trees
  • Building lighting truss
  • Setting up light props and running power
  • Setting up displays, attractions, and vendor booths
  • Adding final touches to displays and structures
  • Towing displays into and out of the Park or Drive Thru

If you like building, teamwork, using tools, sweating, and stagecraft, this job is for you. 

This job runs the week of Oct 27 thru Nov 27, and then Jan 2 thru Jan 29. 40 hours a week, 7am to 3pm.

Show Run

Assist our Operations Team with providing excellent customer service to our guests, while following safety protocols outlined by our Operations Director. Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Monitor the park and be available to answer Frequently Asked Questions from guests
  • Safeguard parking area to ensure space availability for vendors, employees and stage performers
  • Escort Santa Claus to his photo-op sessions in our Santa House
  • Assist in maintaining park cleanliness and display upkeep
  • Perform opening and closing tasks (move barriers, lock ATMs, secure tools, etc.)
  • Basic fluency in Spanish or Vietnamese is welcome

If you like to smile, talk with guests and hang with Santa, this job is for you. Usual shifts are 2pm to 11pm, Nov. 28 thru Jan 1. 

The Park operates from morning to night, 7 days a week (holidays included). 

Show Run (Drive Thru)

Assist our Operations Team with providing excellent customer service to our guests, while following safety protocols outlined by our Operations Director. Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Participate in nightly set up and closing of Drive Thru
  • Operate power generator and position fencing/safety lights throughout the show  
  • Scan and sell tickets at entry
  • Answer questions from guests
  • Basic fluency in Spanish or Vietnamese is welcome

The Drive Thru shift operates from evening to night, 7 days a week (holidays included). If you like working alone, waving at strangers and lights at night, this is the job for you!

Usual shifts are 4pm to 11pm, Nov 21 to Dec 31.

The above duties describe the general nature and level of work being performed. 

These jobs require working outdoors in inclement weather. Work starts in October, and it will be warm. We work into January when it will be extremely cold, possibly rainy.  

Stage Manager – Downtown Jingle Bell Community Stage  

  • Oversee nightly run of show 
  • Make announcements to guests in between acts
  • Test mics, monitors and lights prior to show
  • Ensure all requested/necessary gear is ready for performance
  • Assist Programs Manager in scheduling of performers
  • Morning opening (weekends) or nightly shut down

Assistant Stage Manager 

Supports the Stage Manager by coordinating talent in backstage areas. 

  • Supports the operation by acting as a liaison between the stage acts, Stage Manager and Operations team. 
  • Supervises backstage operations and coordinates talent in backstage areas
  • Make contact with the acts, assist with parking passes and loading zone procedures, move acts into green rooms.
  • Maintains walkways for stage traffic as well as closures for access doors.

This is a job for individuals who are excited about stage shows. Ideal candidates are those who are in school for or would like to be more involved in stage production.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds regularly. 
  • Must be able to work in extreme (wet, windy or California cold) weather. 
  • Must be able to respond quickly to voice instructions. 
  • Must be able to work with tight deadlines. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Returning Staff: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour

  • Day and evening shifts
  • Holidays
  • Weekends
  • A background check will be required.
